Constructing the Bag

This didn't go as planned...

This bag project was a great way to explore prototyping and execution. Below you will see images that i took throughout my construction phase where I was constructing the physical purse. I wanted the bag base to be made out of cardboard with a denim fabric that hid the cardboard. Throughout my process, I realized that after sewing my fabric to the cardboard, I had no idea what I was doing and the plan to construct the bag failed. Upon realizing that the bag wasn't up to my standards, I decided not to give up and I went back to what i knew; moodboarding and designing.

MoodBoading

This is where things get intresting

These are images that i took from my personal pinterest board that gave me inspiration to continue to create designs for my personal brand, Chimba. I took images that represented culture, patterns and influences of my own such as Diana Ross, Celia Cruz and African artwork. Along with this moodboard, I did research and applied what I learned to develop designs that furthered my style and curiosity.

Thank Goodness for Procreate

I like to do explorations of things I find, and learn. I was able to do this through Procreate because I wanted a sense of handmade items but I also wanted to include text so I went into InDesign to add text that supported the images.

Next Steps...

Still in the Works

I want to be able to expand on my brand and make it more interactive. I am continuing to create more exploratory work and thinking of ways to expand it. I want to be able to create posters, booket and place my designs on mockups (such as shirts, bags, etc.) to see what works best for my brand. Things are still being developed but so far, this is what I have! (As of Mar. 28, 2024)
